My memory is of the games as a whole.
Personally, representing Orkney in front of huge home crowds in all of our football games was incredible. Having over 1000 people cheer you on as a team was very special and something that we as a team are incredibly thankful for.
The opening ceremony, when the Island teams were walking from the Bignold down to the Cathedral was unbelievable. I dont believe I have ever seen as many people in Orkney, in one place at one time, all cheering and proud to be part of something special.
There had been some negative noise in the run up to the games of how the well they would operate, but credit has to be given to those who organised, operated and volunteered during the games. The game was an undisputed success and has created memories of all lifetime for so many people.
Orkney should be incredibley proud of how they hosted, performed as competitors and spectated. The games brought the best out of the Orkney comunity, coming together as one.
