“It was an unforgettable week for Orkney, I think, for nothing like that had ever happened before here so you didn’t know what to expect and so it just exceeded expectations and it was quite amazing. One of the highlights I think was when we went along to see the opening ceremony and the parade of all the athletes and they all had their flags and all of the different cultures that you could see was really like all of them were doing kind of different things. They were singing different songs and just a real atmosphere and it was really, really quite exciting to see that like because you were there walking down the hill towards the cathedral and just everybody in a really positive mindset the sun was shining and lots of singing, because we had our wee girl with us there was quite a few of them that stopped and gave her a little pin badge and gave them high fives and stuff so it was just really cute and really nice to see how much the people got involved and were enjoying it as much as we were all enjoying having them there, just a real buzz and huge excitement.”
