For me as a personal point of view was watching my oldest daughter walk out with Orkney Badminton team during the open ceremony. Wow, it was amazing. And also seeing the Orkney Women’s Football Club perform at the Games for the first time as it’s the first time I’ve been involved in the club for a long time. So that was a really special moment.
The women’s football team did really well and I think won the first game and then learned a lot of lessons for the next couple of game, but hopefully, they can take that forward to 2027.
Overall, the week was just magical. No other words really. The weather was fantastic it felt like somebody was looking over us. And then it was like somebody just flicked a switch on the Saturday morning when the fog came in.
Another highlight was Broad Street and the Opening Ceremony seeing everyone come out to support which was emotional. Especially with my daughter taking part which made it really special as she is only 18.
(How did she get on in the badminton?) She did good. Orkney got the highest they had done in the team event which was good. And my daughter and her doubles partner Shannon came up against the number one seeds in the first round. They lost the second set 21-19 so they gave them a good game.
