I was at the 1993 Games in the badminton event on the Isle of Wight. I was 18 as well but it was an experience.
And how would you compare the Isle of Wight games to the Orkney games? I suppose when it’s your home games you approach it a little bit differently and Isle of Wight was my first Games so I didn’t know what to expect. We were staying in Hi-de-Hi type accommodation but I must say everyone had their doubts about Orkney but the organising committee for the Island Games as a whole and for each sport just did an amazing job. Everyone should be so proud of themselves. Onwards to the Faroe Islands 2027!
